Question from friends: How to find Editors?
by Lull Mengesha on Jan.19, 2010, under Blog
If you have a question about self-publishing that I can answer then go head and send me an email or leave a comment on previous posts and I will do my best to help you out.
Question:
Where did you look for editors, and who did the final edit before you went to print?
BTW, all that science is a serious help!
Answer:
For editors I just started with my friends, just start with your most dependable and pro-active people in your network.Tell them to focus more concepts versus grammatical or spelling issues. You just want to make sure that what you are saying is understandable and coherent. The grammar and spelling can come into play as later edits.
From friends I started going to mentors in the education field as my book is catered to that audience. That is where I had the most revisions and changes as they introduced more ideas and concepts to think about.
After that I started approaching copy editors online. I found a few that were good and consistent when it came to more of the technical aspect of writing. Claire is a person that I found after about a year into the writing process and she has been rather helpful. Here is her contact info.

Claire is pretty good and works rather fast which is important when you have so many versions of your draft out to people. When I get into writing more I will come to Claire for copy editing. Although she is not the only one available, simply googling “copy editor”, “editor services” online will provide you a lot of resources.
I hope this was quick and understandable, If not feel free to keep the questions coming.
